The Minister emphasized that creativity is the oxygen of civilization. He said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji often reiterates that nations where creativity thrives ultimately rise as Vishwaguru. The Prime Minister has identified Content, Creativity, and Culture as the three crucial pillars of India’s development, collectively referred to as the Orange Economy. “ He said that you today’s artists, designers, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, and tomorrow’s creative leaders are the most important drivers of this Orange Economy.
Shri Sood noted that the foundation of crafts rests on five elements Material, Process, Function, Aesthetic, and Concept. These same elements guide your creative practice. Art or art-making, he said, is not a decision taken in a single moment; it is a lifelong journey. Every artwork is a portal to an emotion, a city, a tradition, or a memory.
Expressing pride, the Minister said that since its establishment in 1942, the College of Arts has played a significant role in shaping India’s art landscape. From BFA and MFA to now PhD programmes, the institution has not only provided education but has also nurtured a robust imagination ecosystem.
Sood further said that in today’s fast-paced, digital, and highly distracted world, art brings us back to focus and balance. For decades, Indian art and craft remained disconnected from global markets, limiting our artists’ ability to reach their full potential. Now, the time has come to bridge this gap, and this crucial responsibility lies with all of you. As India moves towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, the creative economy is emerging as one of our biggest strengths. In the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the role of our artists, designers, and creators is indispensable.
